ANZAC Day Youth Vigil 2025 221

The 17th Anzac Day Youth Vigil was held at the Marion Returned and Services League on Thursday to honour those who served our country.

Supported by the City of Marion, the official ceremony took place at 7pm, with a number of special dignitaries in attendance.

Moving speeches from the Marion Mayor Kris Hanna and members of the Australian Defence Force were followed by the laying of tokens and remembrance and the playing of the Last Post.

A large group of young people aged 13 to 18 from service organisations including the Australian Air Force Cadets 609 Squadron, Dover Garden Girl Guides and Scouts then stood guard in 20-minute shifts throughout the night leading up to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service.

The vigil is an important event preserving the legacy of the ANZACs for current and future generations.

It has proved to create a significant connection between the youth of today and our ANZACs.
