Volunteers are integral to the City of Marion community. As a volunteer with us, you are helping your community across a variety of services that engage an even larger variety of people. We have a variety of roles on offer and are always looking to involve volunteers in our goal of serving the community in the best way possible.
Do you have a confident and clear voice that you're not afraid to use?
We are looking for volunteers to guide members of the public around the Tonsley Innovation District, located on the old Mitsubishi factory site. If you can work independently, can give direction and instructions with confidence, we'd love to hear from you.
Volunteer Tour Guides meet and greet registered participants and take them on a one-hour tour of the Innovation District. A script and training are provided.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and passionate volunteer with a background in carpentry or woodworking to assist our new class at the Trott Park woodwork shed on Monday mornings. Your role will involve helping develop a strong community atmosphere while assisting with tools and machinery.

Are you ready to whip up some good in your community?
The Cooinda Community Centre is looking for volunteers who have some experience of working in a kitchen.
This is a perfect role for people who love to create a sense of community and belonging while at the same time, have a passion for providing quality service, food and coffee in a community atmosphere.
The role provides support to the Cooinda Kitchen and Café and is responsible for general customer service, service of coffee and small food items. The role may include other associated duties such as set up, cleaning and support in baking and cooking if required.

Do you love to interact with children? We are looking for a volunteer to help with the running of the playgroup session on Tuesday mornings.
With a passion for reading stories, socialising and supporting children and parents - this could be the role for you!
The Trott Park playgroup needs a volunteer/parent to assist with running the group. This position is ideal for a creative person who enjoys being around children and connecting with parents. The role will require setting up and packing down equipment, planning weekly activities/theme days and to encourage parents to be involved in the class's activities.
It is a great way to connect with our community and is also a service that is extremely valued by those who attend.
Applicants must undertake the required DHS clearances as per the City of Marion's Volunteer Policy and to ensure a successful outcome for both the community and the volunteer, a 3 month review will be held to make sure you have found the right role to call home. You will also need to have or complete the Child Safe Environments course.

The City of Marion is looking for Community Bus Drivers to help aged people and people with a disability to access community activities, shopping centres and social clubs.
Driving applicants are required to have a current car licence which is all you'll need to drive our 12-seater buses transporting clients of the Community Bus Service.

Community Centres are looking for a Volunteer to work with existing volunteers and support our Monday beading group at Mitchell Park Community Centre.
This is a diverse abilities group that meets every Monday during the school term and duties include supporting participants with their projects, setting up and packing down tables and arranging materials. The successful candidate would ideally have experience in the Disability sector and knowledge of different beading techniques.
Hours required would be from 9:15 am to 11:45 am.

We are looking for volunteers to join our team of drivers who deliver frozen meals to clients who live within the City of Marion.
Using your own car, the volunteer meal delivery driver will personally deliver premade frozen meals to clients who are 65+ years to ensure they maintain good nutrition and support the client’s ability to remain in their own home.

SkillMatch volunteering is a way we are trying to provide opportunities for people with unique interests, skills, and expertise to volunteer their knowledge to the community, while adding value to the City of Marion’s core business - serving our community.
Potential volunteers may approach Council with ideas for roles or can be placed in areas where program or project-based opportunities have been identified and match the applicants' skills and interests.
Please take the time to fully articulate your vision for what you feel you could bring to the community that our volunteer roles do not currently cater for. There are considerations we must make in approving new volunteer roles and this of course will be discussed in tandem with applicants. However, we are very keen to facilitate ways in which the diverse members of our community can make the City of Marion a better and more interesting place to live!

The Marion Historic Village Museum are an incorporated charity open to the public as a community museum.
Do you love history or story telling? Want to meet like-minded people?
We are a community museum looking for volunteers with a range of skills. We meet every Tuesday from 9 am to 12 pm for workshops whilst the museum is open Tuesday 10 am to 12 pm and Sunday 2 pm to 4 pm.
We are looking for people who love to have a chat, can turn on the computer, are willing to learn and love a cuppa. Being good with your hands, is a bonus.

The City of Marion can reduce the incidence of graffiti vandalism in our communities with the support of volunteers. Volunteers are issued with graffiti removal kits and asked to remove graffiti as directed by the Program Coordinator. No ladders or climbing required. Community Gardens
There are many volunteering opportunities in community gardens. Most local community gardens welcome volunteers to help with a range of jobs including gardening, group coordination, promotion, event management, community development and more! You don’t necessarily have to be a member of the garden to volunteer. They are a rewarding place to volunteer with plenty of opportunities to meet people in your local area. The wonderful team at Ascot Park's Active Elders op-shop are looking for some volunteers to assist in their warm and thriving shop.
Being a close-knit team, they are friendly always happy to welcome people on no matter what experience you have in customer service or retail - all you need is a friendly demeanour and a can-do attitude.

St John Youth Development Team
Our Youth Development program teaches first aid skills to children aged 11 to 17 years old.
Once qualified they can start attending selected events and providing first aid to our community under the supervision of our highly trained adult members.
Beyond first aid, our young people learn a range of important life skills that see them develop the tools, confidence and compassion to contribute in a positive way to their community.
Youth members can attend a range of fun camps and competitions and even earn proficiency badges and SACE points along the way. All of this and more is available in the St John Youth Development Program where fun, and friendship is the key.

Ascot Park Bowling Club is looking for a friendly person to help out with their bar on Wednesdays. The club is a very warm and relaxed place and is popular amongst the local community. If you are looking for somewhere social to spend some time or looking to hone your customer service skills, then this could be the place for you.
You must have COVID marshal qualifications and an RSA. Due to the role being one day a week, some experience in bar work is desirable.
