Tree City of the World

The City of Marion is now a Tree City of the World!

This achievement shows our dedication to creating a greener and more liveable city by planting and carefully maintaining trees.

To achieve the Tree City of the World status, we met 5 key standards:

1. Establishing staff members who are responsible for tree care
2. Having a tree management plan and or policy
3. Maintaining an updated tree inventory
4. Allocating a dedicated budget for tree management
5. Hosting an annual celebration of trees with our community

This award places us among an impressive global network of 210 cities across 24 countries. In Australasia, only 14 cities have received this recognition - most of them are here in South Australia, including the Cities of Burnside, Onkaparinga, Tea Tree Gully and Unley.
