By removing barriers to inclusion, Council aims to create a city built on fairness and respect and is safe and welcoming for everyone.

Planning, Policy and Lived Experience voice

Council listens to people with a lived experience of disability and keeps informed of relevant laws and standards that ensure we are meeting community expectations. Council strives to incorporate these perspectives into our workplace culture and in the work we do guided by:

  • Disability Access and Inclusion Network (DAN)
The City of Marion works in partnership with City of Holdfast Bay and City of Mitcham to co-facilitate the DAN. This group “advocates for access and inclusion that goes beyond compliance of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and for the rights of people with disability. We share our knowledge and experiences to build understanding and form positive relationships with our Councils and communities.”
  • Disability Access and Inclusion Plan
  • Diversity Access and Inclusion Policy
  • Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging Plan (DEIB)
An internal plan to make our workforce and workplace welcoming, inclusive and accessible.
