Kokubunji Visit 2025 18

A group of Japanese university students from the City of Marion's sister city - Kokubunji - have taken a tour across a number of Marion's facilities this week.

The students - who are studying the English language - are visiting Adelaide on the trip of a lifetime.

They toured the Marion Council Chamber on Thursday alongside Mayor of Marion Kris Hanna. Mayor Hanna asked the students about their time in Australia and talked about the historical relationship between the City of Marion and Kokubunji.

Marion Council has had a sister city relationship with Kokubunji for about 32 years and students from Tokyo Kezai University have been visiting for more than a decade.

Following the visit to the Administration Building, the students were toured through the Marion Cultural Centre, Domain Theatre and Gallery M.

They then visited our premier aquatic facility, the Marion Outdoor Pool.

The students raved about the facility and were even tempted to take a dip.

We loved hosting these students and look forward to hopefully meeting another contingent in 2026.
