Hessing Crescent Reserve opening

A new playground and additional reserve upgrades have been officially opened in Trott Park bringing to life another open space in the City of Marion.

The vibrant reserve at Hessing Crescent has received $560,000 worth of upgrades thanks to funding from Marion Council and the Australian Government.

Mayor of Marion Kris Hanna and Member for Kingston Amanda Rishworth MP officially opened the new play equipment and facilities on Saturday.

The upgrade boasts a state-of-the-art play structure that includes:

  • 2 slides
  • A tunnel
  • Climbing and rope play
  • Swings
  • Musical Play Elements
  • Giant Chess
  • Rock and Wood Play Items

The playground also features irrigated flat grass areas perfect for running and play, with new trees and plantings adding to the already green and natural open space.

Beyond the playground there are also new soccer goals, basketball and netball rings and a pathway leading to the creek adjacent to the reserve.

Community garden beds have also been planted with native edible foods and informative signage to help visitors learn about the natural environment.

The upgraded reserve adds to the popular Trott Park Community Centre that runs 20 Council programs weekly. The upgraded reserve will assist the centre when hosting community events or hiring out the venue.

"Marion Council is pleased that local residents in Trott Park and surrounds have another upgraded open space to enjoy," Mayor of Marion Kris Hanna said.

"The new playground and additional upgrades will compliment the popular Trott Park Community Centre that attracts thousands of visitors each year."

The project has also been made possible thanks to contributions from the Trott Park Men’s Shed Group, Southern Nunga Men’s Group and the Community Garden Group.

The Australian Government provided $416,000 under its Investing in Our Communities Program.

"We greatly appreciate the contribution from the Federal Government," Mayor Hanna said.
