National Volunteer Week 2025 054

This week is National Volunteer Week with the theme ‘Connecting Communities’ presenting the perfect opportunity to recognise how volunteering enriches lives by forming lifelong relationships and providing individuals with a sense of belonging within the community.

Through the City of Marion’s Volunteer Program we are lucky enough to have about 300 volunteers dedicating their time, skills, experience and commitment to us and our community.

On Wednesday those volunteers were invited to a 'Thank you' afternoon tea celebration at the Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre. Without these volunteers the City of Marion would be unable to provide some of the critical services it offers.

Our Volunteers provide services such as:

  • Community transport and meal delivery
  • Graffiti removal
  • Library services
  • Open spaces & Urban Tree program
  • Run programs in our neighbourhood centres
  • Justice of the Peace
  • Lead tours through the Tonsley Innovation Hub

Many of the volunteers come from culturally diverse backgrounds, reflecting the modern multicultural Marion of today.

Over 1000 years of service have been provided by our volunteers combined.

Volunteers are at the heart of many of our services, bringing people together from all walks of life. They make the City of Marion a better place.
