I continue to explore innovative ways to link my disciplines, leveraging the research and observational skills honed in archaeology to create visually compelling and thought-provoking art. I work with mixed media, and my style tends towards narrative art, often using abstract and symbolic elements connected to historical and personal stories and contemporary issues. This approach bridges past and present, exploring themes like memory, fragments, cultural identity, and thinking through temporal connections.
I am currently studying visual arts at Adelaide College of the Arts. My background is in archaeology, and I find the observational process to be a bridge that links archaeology and art. Archaeologists survey and document material culture to reconstruct past human behaviours and environments. Similarly, artists examine their surroundings to create visual representations based on their interpretations. Both fields rely on the ability to explore, perceive, and translate experiences across time. My relationship with these disciplines invites innovative approaches to connect emotionally and intellectually with historical narratives and contemporary issues.
